EARN-A-BIKE

For the many in our city who cannot afford private or public transportation, a bicycle is not just an enjoyable pastime or a great way to stay in shape. It is an invaluable tool. A bicycle is a means for travel, for keeping gainful employment, running errands, and getting to doctor's appointments. Our Earn-A-Bike program encourages participants to be engaged in the process of receiving their bike by requiring 10 hours of verified community service. A minimum of 1 hour must be spent in a basic bike maintenance and road safety class provided by our staff.

PUBLIC WORK STATION

We realize that even if you've been given a free bike, having one is not entirely without cost. When something breaks or needs adjusting, many people find themselves at the mercy of an expensive repair cost.  Often times these repairs might be fairly simple to fix, but people don't have the necessary tools to do them. The Public Work Station is intended to serve this purpose. Customers can pay $5 per hour to use this space and access tools they need to get the job done. Here's the catch: You've got to do the work yourself!

REPAIRS

Our repair fees are always below market prices. We also use a very low-fee sliding scale when requested,  for those in need. The sliding scale process is based on the honor system, so you tell us how much you can afford to pay, and we take your word for it. This can result in very little to no money paid for repairs at times. We do not currently have a funding source for these sliding scale repair expenses, but we know it's important to provide this service to everyone who needs it. So, any leads on a foundation or grant to help would be greatly appreciated.

WORKSHOPS

Workshops covering different topics from fixing flats and mechanical skills to road safety are provided free of charge.
